Hello, I have inherited a network that is/was fraught with errors. I have had to wipe out the exchange server and reload. No I was unable to do this in the correct manner....I was unable to access the machine in any way shape or form. Having reinstalled the OS (Windows Server 2008 R2)..I am now trying to get Exchange 2007 loaded. I have all the prerequisites loaded. When I run the installation, it goes through the checks and fails at "Organization Prerequisites". I run setup /PrepareAD and I get the error "The wellKnownObject B:32:A7D2016C83F003458132789EEB127B84:CN=Exchange Server \OADEL:134a11e8-f4a6-4347-80ee-0169da497959, CN=Deleted Objects, DC=DPAO, DC=COM of the otherWellKnownObjects attribute on container object CN=Configuration, DC=DPAO, DC=COM points to an invalid DN or a deleted object. Please remove the entry and rerun the task. How do I go about removing that object? I have seen in other forum posts to use the ADSI Edit tool and set it to "not set". However, when I access the object from the ADSI Edit tool, I only have the "View" button available. When I click on the "View" button, I get an error message telling me there is no editor registered to handle this object type. Any Ideas? Regards, Mike

You can't right-click the object and select Delete? If you can't, then your account probably doesn't have sufficient rights. Try adding it to the Enterprise Admins group. Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

I am in the Enterprise Admins Group. What I am trying to delete is an attribute not the entire object....as it is the domain object....I believe. Regards, Mike

Hello Mike, Firstly, please make sure you logging account is in the following group: 1. Enterprise admin 2. Domain admin 3. Schema admin If it still does not work, we can also try checking the settings by the LDP.exe tool.
