Random Problem Sending Emails through SBS2003 Exchange SMTP connector
Hello the company i work for has been having random problem sending emails to certain addresses. This is the error that they get returned to them553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)We are using the SMTP connector to send emails through the DNS and not a Smart host and i use the POP Connector to retrieve the emails from our Domain Host NetworkSolutions.I have a feeling the error is due to sending the Emails through our Companys Server rather than using our SMTP server hosted by NetworkSolutions? Your help is greatly appreciated.Paul

So you are using a hosted relay server to receive your email from? I would also suggest using this hosted server to send email. I am assuming they provide spam/etc protection for these incoming emails? Do you have the option of using this hosted server as a relay for your outgoing emails? If not, you may need to check your external dns mx records to see what IP address/server name is listed as your sending mail server and if you need to use DNS and send out from your exchange box, ensure the mx record is listed with your exchange servers external IP address. However, I may have completely misunderstood your question and am going in the wrong direction.

Thankyou for your help yes we are using a hosted server to hold the emails till the exchange box retrieves them from the POP3 connector. I cant just relay it to my Hosted server because it requires a username and password unless there is a way to get the SMTP connector to use a username and password? So I'll have to use the other way and change my MX record to my Wan IP on the Exchange box thankyou for your help. Oh one other thing though im only using 1 network adapter for the SBS server so its behind a router/firewall will this complicate things at all?
