RPC over HTTP not working RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE
Errors:
Attempting to ping RPC endpoint 6001 (Exchange Information Store) on server hosted.compsysar.com.
The RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE error (0x6ba) was thrown by the RPC Runtime process.
I can not figure where I have gone wrong. Everything seems to work (activesync, owa, ecp, etc). I have a 3rd party certificate from GoDaddy but whatever I do I cannot get Outlook Anywhere to work.
I put the local name in the hosts file on the server like some people suggested. The server is listening on 6001-6002 and 6004 (I can telnet to all of them), and port 443 is open on the outside.
What ma I missing?

I'm lost.. i've been googling this and trying things for a while now with no luck :-(
BTW this server has everything installed on it. It is just one seperate server for DC and one server for exchange (cas, mailbox, everything).
In order for this to work does it require a valid autodiscover certificate?

I opened a case with Microsoft :-\
January 25th, 2011 11:13pm
Solution:
It appears the issue was copying a VM. Even the Microsoft person said it shouldn't of mattered since the machine I copied was just a fresh install of Server 2008 R2 (as in no domain, dc, dns, etc).
So I found that even though I copied two more and set it up I kept getting the same results.
So then I setup two more environments without copying the VM and it works just fine.
Strange! Might be a bug.. something was obviously retained that Exchange didn't like when the VM was copied.

Did you run Sysprep on your template VM and generalize the SIDs? I've messed that up in my lab and Exchange quit working some time later. It wasn't right away, oddly it was some number of days later.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."
