Within a day of installing update KB2592687, I had reports of context menus appearing for a fraction of a second then disappearing on RemoteApp session with Office 2010 applications, including Outlook, OneNote, and Word.  On most clients, this problem was not observed at the beginning of a session.  The delay varied from minutes to hours.  Based on internet searching, this appeared to be an office plug-in or install corruption issue.  After repairing Office, modifying registeries, reinstalling Office, and deleting user profiles, I tried removing the KB2592687 update, which only seemed related to the problem because of when it was installed.  Removing KB2592687 appears to fix the problem, based on the last 36 hours.

KB2574819 was installed with KB2592687.  It does not cause the problem, nor does it fix it.

Server: Win 2008 R2; Office 2010 x64

Clients: Win 7

All computers have the latest Microsoft updates via WSUS.

This is a note to let you know that I am trying to involve someone familiar with this topic to further look at this issue.

We are seeing a this issue (Not been able to prove it is linked to KB2592687 yet...)

Our users start one app via RemoteApp, this works fine, but then will open a word document, that starts a RemoteApp of Ms Word 2010 in the same session. The RemoteApp of MS word sees the issue where content (right click) menus vanish or disappear a split second after they appear.

Delete of the user profile on the TS does not resolve the issue.

I'm convinced that KB2592687 causes the problem. I've revealed a workaround. Instruct users to press ALT to activate main menu and then press CTRL+ALT, this will fix context menus. In some cases you even have no need to activate main menu of an application, just press CTRL+ALT. By the way, activating main menu by pressing ALT in our case is the action that breaks context menus.

Unfortunately that doesn't work on our end. 

We are also having the identical problem.  I started noticing the issue on my new Windows 8 PC.  After our engineers were upgraded through windows update to RDP 8.0 on their Windows 7 machines they started having the issue as well.  It is something in RDP 8.0 as best as I can tell.

The only solution I have found is to terminate the disconnected RemoteApp sessions and log back in.  I will test the "Alt" cause and let you know.

While it sounds like this issue is directly related to KB2592687, I didnt see any mention of what Office 2010 SP and build numbers repro the Office 2010 context-menu behavior.

Just wanted to report that we are experiencing the same issue with KB2592687, running on Windows 7 SP1 (32 and 64bit machines) accessing Office 2010 SP1 via RemoteApp.

The fix for us (so far) has been to uninstall KB2592687.

All affected machines so far have been running intel onboard graphics drivers.

I've been experiencing this issue and was looking for a solution. I too am running an Intel onboard graphics card. I'm not running SP1 for Office 2010 on the remote server, but am curious to know if you have the latest post-SP1 office updates as suggested by Bill above.

Has anyone found the latest office updates for Office 2010 SP1 have fixed the issue?

Good question, Bill.  I experienced this problem on 11/1/2012 with Office 2010 x64 sp1 and all updates recommended by Microsoft Update. If anything, I have installed too many updates as KB2592687 was clearly one update too many.

I'm having the same issue with Windows 8.0 and KB2574819 on Windows 7 machines with our internal system, and clients having the same issue.  Servers are running Server 2008 R2 with MS Office 2010.  The issue does not appear when you connect with the Remote Desktop Connection application, only when you run apps via RDWeb.  The work-around I implemented for now is to publish Remote Desktop through RDWeb with multi-monitor support.  Client was happy with that solution.

Any progress on getting this fixed, Microsoft?  It's been three months now.

Just wanted to add that I too removed KB2592687 and fixed this issue on a Windows 7 system.  I've also tested on a Windows 8 system which does not appear to have the same problem, which means it must have been resolved.  Is there a Windows 7 fix for this, or is keeping KB2592687 uninstalled the only remedy?
