Query on CAS to CAS proxying
Hi We are shortly going to implement Outlook Anywhere, OWA and ActiveSync (EAS) capability in our Exchange 2007 SP1 environment. Environment: http://Exchangeweb (published on external DNS) will point to an ISA array located at the HQ site - SiteA. The ISA's will proxy requests through to the CAS servers in SiteA. We have regional sites in SiteB, SiteC. Each Site has Domain Controllers and full set of Exchange 2007 servers (CAS, HT, Mailbox). Currently, for EAS, all CAS servers in the different sites are using BASIC authentication. 1. However, for OWA, whilst the SiteA and SiteB CAS servers are using Forms Based Authentication, SiteC is using BASIC authentication. Will this affect CAS to CAS proxying between SiteA (which all requests will go through) and SiteC? 2. And how about Outlook Anywhere? Are requests proxies through the CAS as well for this? 3. What is the effect of having different authentication settings on the various CAS servers?

Hi, If the Integrated Windows authentication is not set on the Second CAS, it will return an error message to the client. Error: Outlook Web Access is not available. If the problem continues, contact technical support for your organization and tell them the following: There is no Microsoft Exchange Client Access server that has the necessary configuration in the Active Directory site where the mailbox is stored. How Exchange Server 2007 CAS Proxying works for Outlook Web Access http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2007/09/10/446957.aspx the article is also apply for Exchange 2010. Could you please let me know why you would like to make the different authentication settings for various servers? Thanks, Elvis
