Query active directory and include attributes in an automatic reply?
Exchange Server 2007/Outlook 2007 Basically, I am attempting to have an automatic reply to certain messages received by an Outlook client. End goal: allow a user to email a specific address with a specific keyword, and then have the client respond with some data from the active directory (about said user). After reading around, it seems like a script is probably the easiest way to do this, but the only examples I have found are scripts to automatically generate signatures based on AD data. I need to implement something similar, and the looking at the 'actions' available to me in the client, the script seems like the best way. If there's a way to do this with some Hub Transport rules then I'd prefer to do it directly on the exchange server as the mail comes in, but none of the 'actions' for the hub transport rules are applicable to generating a reply which includes some data from the Active Directory. Basically, the users have some information stored in the CustomAttributes1, and I would like them to be able to send a message to this mailbox and instantly receive a reply with the data stored in their CustomAttributes1 field. If it has to be done on the Outlook client, that's fine, but I just want some insight into the best way of querying the AD for this information, then sticking it in a automatic reply to the user who sent the 'request' email. Any input is hugely appreciated! Cheers, Andrew
