Public folders unavailable after first Exchange server goes offline.
First thing I looked at and it is pointing to the local server and the correct DB.

Hi Matt, Since how long it's been happening? Did you rebooted the server or Recycled the Information store service? Dismount and mount the public folder database. Post the update.Gulab | MCITP: Exchange 2010-2007 | Lync Server 2010 | Windows Server 2008 | Skype: Exchange.Ranger | Blog: www.ExchangeRanger.Blogspot.com

server months ago and the public folders were replicated to the 2007 server as well. The 2003 server died and now I am unable to access public folders. I can see the folder DM in exchange 2007 and it is mounted but when I try to open them I get a message “The set of folders cannot be opened. Microsoft Exchange is currently busy. If this message is still displayed in 30 minutes, contact your Exchange administrator” I also had problems with authentication but worked with Microsoft and got all the AD stuff fixed but they consider this problem a separate incident and want me to pay for a second call, go figure. Anyone able to help me fix this, I am working on getting my TechNet subscription renewed but it will probably take a week to go through channels here before I can use my first incident to work with a MS tech to resolve this unless I can get some help here to fix the problem. The server is a 2003 64 Bit and it fully patched and updated along with Exchange 2007, mail is flowing fine and I even created a test account and it also worked fine so it seems public folders are my only remaining problem I need to solve. Thanks for any help. Matt

This message can occur when the correct public folder database is not set on the mailbox databases. You can check this by following thesee steps: 1. Open Exchange management console 2. Navigate to Server Configuration, Mailbox, right click on your databases and choose Properties 3. Open the Client Settings tab and see where the default public folder database is set to. Make sure that this setting is pointing to the correct database. Martin Sundstrm | Microsoft Certified Trainer | MCITP: Enterprise Messaging Administrator 2007/2010 | http://msundis.wordpress.com
