Public folders in a 2003/2010 coexistant exchange
I have installed 2010 and it is working for mail, anywhere, owa, etc. However when I go to look at the public folders in EMC it says they are not connected. If I attempt to connect them it does not give me a choice to connect to the 2003 server. I am on the 2010 server for mail and I can see and use public folders. What am I missing and is there a way in the EMC to fix this, not a big script guy so prefer the GUI. Any help will be appreciated.BOCHCO

Hi Have you replicated over the Public folders, contents and system folders to the new server? This will add replica of public folders on Exchange Server 2003 to Exchange Server 2010. This is the simplest way to add replica of all PFs to Exchange 2010 PF database. C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Scripts>.\AddReplicaToPFRecursive.ps1 -TopPublicFolder "\" -ServerToAdd "exchange2010" Once the replica is added the next step is to move the replica from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010. To do this, jump to scripts directory and run following command. C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Scripts>.\MoveAllReplicas.ps1 -Server "Exchange2003" -NewServer "Exchange2010" Make sure you don't have any smarthost configured on your 2003 server in default smtp virtual server Also make sure that you have the public folder database "connected" to the mailbox databases, right click the DBs and choose properties and select the PFJonas Andersson MCTS: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010 | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | MCSE/MCSA Blog: http://www.testlabs.se/blog

just to add to jonas in the mean while till the replication is not complete and you run the moveallreplicas.sp1 you might want to specify the exchange 2003 public folder database as default PF database on propterties of you 2010 mailbox databaes so that users can access the PF Dhruv

Good point Dhruvaraj! So true, compare the items between 2003 and 2010 so they are almost the same before "moving" and switching the PF on the databasesJonas Andersson MCTS: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010 | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | MCSE/MCSA Blog: http://www.testlabs.se/blog

Hello and thanks for responses, I was ill but back now. What I have found is that the public folders in 2003 server do not appear to be in the correct place. Users on 201 can see, modify and use public folders but I cannot connect 2010 exchange to them, it does not see it. If you try from 2010 server it does not see them. If you attempt to go to folders in 2003 server to sync OAB or anything else you do not get the options. You can do syncs from the First Administrative group/server/servername/first storage group/public folders. I am sure that the move may work but my question is will all the users still on the 2003 exchange still have access if it is movedBOCHCO
