Public folder is over its size limit
Hi guys, Only one user is receiving the following notification in order to advice for a limit in a Public folder, but we don´t have any limit for our Public Folders. The rare thing is the Public folder name is called like the Exchange server name. I already read all forums and there is no information about it. I already checked for all Public Folder properties and I didn´t find the size limit, the Public folder size even by PFDAVAdmin. The Exchange Organization is a mixed one, I mean Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2007 organization. The reference for ExchangeServerName1 is a Exchange Server 2003 SP2 The mailbox for the Postmaster is in a Exchange Server 2007 SP3 RU2 . Pls help me... From: Postmaster Sent: To: User1 Subject: Public folder is over its size limit: "ExchangeServerName1" Importance: High This public folder has exceeded one or more size limits set by your administrator. The public folder size is 61227 KB. Public Folder size limits: You will receive a warning when this public folder reaches 51200 KB.You may not be able to send or receive new mail until you reduce the size of the public folder. To make more space available, delete any items that you are no longer using. See client Help for more information. Tks

1. Make sure that there are no limis on that folder, double check. 2. See if there are any limits on the PF database iteself. 3. Go the that PF folder in question and see who the owner is, try and remove this one user of he is the owner or has any roghts on it. Sukh

Hi, Firstly, you need to Find the offending folders 1) To determine the affected folders, apply the hot fix documented in article below: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=329803 It will change the information provided in the subject of the “Over the Size Limit” message 2) After applying the above patch, wait for the next time the “Over the Size Limit" message is generated. This should then tell which specific Public Folder(s) is/are over the set size limits. 3) Once you know the actual Public Folder(s) involved in generating the “Over the Size Limit” message(s), you can look at two options for handling the receipt the “Over the Size Limit" messages. a. Modify the limits set against the public folder http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;823144 b. Check the properties of the folder to determine who has owner permissions (either through group membership or individual permission application) and modify these permissions appropriatelyPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Jason, the hotfix you refer with http://support.microsoft.com/?id=329803 applies only for Exchange Server 2000. I already installed it and there was the following notification: "You can install this update on Update Rollup for Exchange 2000 Build 4417 only". Is there a hotfix for Exchange Server 2003? Meanwhile I'll do the double check for each PFolder. Thanks guys, I'll do your suggestions and I promise I'll tell you about the results... Regards Thanks and thanks.

Hi guys, As I promised, I already checked folder by folder in the "ExchangeServerName1" PFolder database but I didn´t find the PFolder with over cuota and the user account for "Owner" permissions neither. I checked for the limits on the database limits itself but we don´t have set any limits on PFolder Databases. Pls, let me know if there is a hotfix like http://support.microsoft.com/?id=329803 in order to identify exactly the PFolder name and take the corresponding actions. Or any recommendation. Following with this log, in this moment I set General, Non-delicvery Reports, Transport Sending, Transoport Delivering, and Storage Limits in Maximum logging level in order to check if there is a log event with the desired data. I'll notice you about the event logs in the following days because this email is delivered to the user at 12:00am randomly. Regards, Tks

Hi, So you have checked all the folder and subfolder in Exchange 2003 Server through checking the folder properties? Did you uncheck all the check box in Storage limits frame for all folder and subfolder just for test? About "Owner" permissions Public Folder->Properties->Permissions tab-> Administrative rights-> Advanced-> Owner tab In exchange 2003, the message still doesn't show which folder reach the limits. but you can sort by size to check which folder is close to the size limits >I'll notice you about the event logs in the following days because this email is delivered to the user at 12:00am randomly. warning messages are typically generated only one time a day instead of immediately.
