Public Folders migrations to shared mailboxes

Hello,

we are doing cross forest migration from Exchange 2007 to 2013. We do not use Public Folders in 2013, so we need to convert Public folders into Shared Mailboxes. Is there any way (tool) how to do it, or we need to do this via PSTs?

Thanks,
BR,
Jan

What is the size of public Folder?
PST sounds good option, assuming there is no corruption while exporting it.

I am not aware of any tool which does the Public Folder migration to Shared Mailbox.

Hi!

PST is ok. But I think you'll loose your PF permissions.

I did it for backup while migrating from 2010 to 2013.

To convert public folders to a mailbox, you would simply click on all folders in Outlook, click the top-level public folder and then export that folder to a PST, ensuring you have checked to include all sub-folders.

Then once exported you would import into the shared mailbox you have set up. You may follow the steps given into this informative blog : https://ctrlexchange.wordpress.com/2013/07/26/convert-public-folder-to-resourceshared-mailbox/

Moreover, if you wish to accomplish this task automatically, you may also consider on this automated application (http://www.exchangemailboxtopst.org/) that could be a good approach to get this job done in more easier and secure way.
