Hello.

Recently I finished migration from Exchange 2010 SP3 to Exchange 2013 CU2 (now CU3). My configuration is: 2*CAS servers in WNLB-cluster and 2*Mailbox servers in DAG. 3 databases (30-150GB each) and small Public Folders Mailbox (about 2GB at all).

Now I have a problems with PF performance:

1) When I opening PF in Outlook 2013 and OWA - they work great, messages opens very fast.

2) When I opening PF in Outlook 2007 - they work a little bit slower, but also good (appears delay about 1 sec when changing message in PF)

3) When I opening PF in Outlook 2010 - messages opens extremly slow (Outlook hangs and not responding in this moments), it takes about 20-30 seconds for one message! And this is only for new messages, which came after migration: when I opening messages which are 2 weeks old (received by Exch 2010 before migration), they opens fine. But if i trying to open messages received today - Outlook hangs.

I'm using cache for main mailbox, but PF without cache. If I enabling cache for Public folders, Outlook 2010 completely hangs. Checked on many computers - everywhere the same picture with Outlook 2010. All latest patches for Exchange and MSOffice are installed.

I tried to move Public Folders mailbox to another database - nothing changed. No corrupted messages were detected on move.

It is not a performance issue too: all servers have 10-20% CPU use and about  50% free RAM.

Found problem by myself - it was anti-virus module for Outlook from Kaspersky Enterprise Security 10. After disabling Outlook Add-in, Public folders began work fast.

Running into the EXACT same issue here (also now on CU3) but without an AV add-in...

im also having trouble after Migration to 2013... Especially Calendars seem to never open. Some taking over 2 minutes!!!!

DEFINITLY NOT Antivirus-Prob as I uninstalled the AV-Software.

Anyone else with Performance-Problems?

Microsoft said to focus especially on Scalabillity but obviously not Performance...

After our migration from Exchange 2007 to 2013, we had massive slowness issues across our organization. Outlook 2007 (online mode, 95% of our clients) was slow, crashed, and was simply useless. 2013 clients were also affected, cached or not.

OWA however, performed wonderfully. Servers CPU/Memory/ETC were fine and looked normal. 

After many hours with Microsoft, we built another Exchange 2013 MBX server and moved our public folders to that dedicated server.  Performance was immediately better. 

What we saw with MS was that all our clients connected to various PF's and had them in favorites. This caused traffic on the servers, and bumped up against an internal 32 RPC connections per database limit (Exchange just shares those 32 pipes into the DB across all connections). This hammering was causing the server to reject and drop many connections across all DB's, not just that busy one. 

We have very few PF's, just that a few of them are connected to by many people. They are also small, 5GB total across a dozen folders.

Looking at a 2013 client's connection status, we saw response times in the thousands, and high req/failure rates. Once the PF's were on their own server, this dropped drastically. 

Unfortunately, the exchange 2013 sizing calculator does not take into account public folders or shared mailboxes. :-(

I'm having the same issue here.

After Migration from Exchange 2007 to 2013 users are experiencing very slow performance while copying emails to public folders. 

Any solutions ???
