Public Folder Pub1.edb incorrect size
Hi there,I noticed that the priv1.edb and priv1.stm files only total about 1.1gig in size, but I see that following event viewer log :Event Type: InformationEvent Source: MSExchangeIS Public StoreEvent Category: General Event ID: 1216Date: 7/9/2008Time: 11:19:03 PMUser: N/AComputer: BHMAIL2K3Description:The Exchange store 'First Storage Group\Public Folder Store (BHMAIL2K3)' is limited to 22 GB. The current physical size of this database (the .edb file and the .stm file) is <1 GB. If the physical size of this database minus its logical free space exceeds the limit of 22 GB, the database will be dismounted on a regular basis. For more information, click http://www.microsoft.com/contentredirect.asp.Any ideas ??

Hello, Is it Exchange 2003 Standard Edition? If yes you need to verify Database Size Buffer Warning in Percentage registry key on your server which is by default set to 10 and need to fine-tuneif it is set to higher value like 90-99 and set it back to 10. the key was not there, so I added it and set it to 10.

Okay, let us know if it resolves the issue. BTW, are you getting it continuously? As per my understanding it comes only once when you increase the size of DB after applying SP2 in Exchange 2003 and restart the IS service or re-mount the store & you can safely ignore this information. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/support/ee/transform.aspx?ProdName=Exchange&ProdVer=6.5.6940.0&EvtID=1216&EvtSrc=MSExchangeIS Public Store&LCID=1033

weird issue is that I moved the pub1.edb/stm to another drive and the original drive they were on still show that there is 20 gigs being used by 'something' even though the partition has no files on it ??Any thoughts ??

Question outside of Exchange realm at this point, but I would suggest checking for hidden files. In the properties of Windows Explorer, select to show 'Hidden files and folders' and uncheck 'Hide protected operating system files'. I use NetBackup, and the Open File agent does create a "_vx..." file to store file changes. These get very large and they need to be deleted manually. Jeremy

no I already checked that, the only 2 files on that partition are the Recycler (255kb) and System Volume Info (0kb). I'm thinking about reformating that partion and see if I get any space back, other than having a problem with the partition itself..

Event 1216 talks about Exchange logical size limit of 2003 Standard edition (not physical disk logical size) which is 18 GB without SP2 and after installation of SP2 we can set upto 75 GB by setting a registry key. When we set the limit in registry and restart the Information Store service it logs information in event viewer 1216 stating that database size has been set successfully. Reference: How to increase the Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 18-gigabyte database size limit Check point 9 in this article. 9. Examine the Application log to verify that the database size has been set successfully. To do this, follow these steps: a. Click Start, click Run, type eventvwr, and then click OK. b. In the Event Viewer tool, click Application. c. Double-click event ID 1216 to verify that the database size has been set successfully.I hope this is clear now, if not then please feel free to post here..
