Public Folder Permissions Exchange 2007
I currently have a mixed environment of Exchange 2003 and 2007 servers. On a 2007 server, I have created a few public folders. I set the appropriate folder and client permissions (folder owner) from the Exchange command shell. When I log into Outlook and check the permissions I see that the user is set as the owner. When the user goes to create a new folder, they get a message that they do not have the necessary permissions. I did some digging and came across this KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313866. However, when I looked at my ADSIEDIT.msc, I did not see the following 2 entries CN=Folder Hierarchies,CN=Public Folders where I would check the permissions. I did use a 2003 System Manager and checked the permissions from there and everything looked fine. Is there anything I am missing???

Do you go to the exchange 2007 administrative group container via ADSI Editor? Please check under the exchange 2003 administrative group, the entries should be thereJames Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com

I found the entries under a 2003 Admin Group. I made the changes, but the problem still persists. CHRIS

Have you run the ExBPA against the exchange servers for permission check? Please use PFDavAdmin to check the DACL status of the problematic public folder, ensure the value is “GOOD” James Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com
