Public Folder Database new Storage group and Mail enabled Public folders
We have exchange 2007 SP2 running on Windows 2003 R2 SP2. The enviroment started with 2 servers one being a Client access role 'Server-CA', the other roles Mailbox and Transport on 'Server-01'. On 'Server-01' we have a Public Folder (referenced as PF going forward) storage group and Public folder DB with mail enabled public folders. We want to remove the PF from 'Server-01' and have all PF's hosted from 'Server-02'. 'Server-02' only given the Mailbox role Steps take so far: - Created New Storage group and PF DB on 'Server-02' - Set up replication to the new PF DB - Replicated all data from PF DB on 'Server-01' to the PF DB on 'Server-02' - Set Mailbox DB's to use 'Server-02' as the defaul public folder server - Verified all data is on new DB, and clients are accessing the content from the new DB Here is the problem: When i dismount the PF DB on 'Server-01' all emails to the mail enabled PF's get queued up and will not deliver. checking the queue viewer i get the error 432 mailbox database is offline. Restarting the transport service has no effect on email delivery. How can i get email to flow while having the PF DB on 'Server-01' dismounted? (only dismounted as a backup plan for the interum to test the migration functionality, once its all working from 'Server-02' the DB will be deleted.) Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks, Stephen

When a public folder store is created its added to the msExchOwningPFTreeBL attribute under the Folders Hierarchies container for the Admin Group. The last server added is the 1st on that list in the attribute. To ensure a new server has the hierarchy before messages are routed to it, its not used by default for 2 days. So, if you just brought the 02 pf store, its being ignored and all messages destined for the pfs are being routed through the 01 server. Dismounting that store stops the message flow as you have seen. You can adjust the "ignore time" http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996736(EXCHG.80).aspx The SMTP IgnorePFTimeLimit registry value has been manually set

Thanks for the quick reply AndyD_! I checked the msExchOwningPFTreeBL and the 'Server-02' is the first on the list in the hirearchy. However it was more than 2 days before i dismounted the PF store on 'Server-01' and mail still did not flow. Is there a certain period of time i need to wait after dismounting the store before the transport server (Server-01) will route messages to the correct PF store (Server-02)?
