Process (inetinfo.exe) Alert on mailserver and Event ID 7010
Frustration is now starting to set in. About 2 months ago I began to receive an alert from our Exchange 2003 server which reads: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alert on mailserver at 10/5/2007 10:57:29 AM The inetinfo.exe process is allocating more memory than usual. The following services are hosted by this process: IISAdmin, POP3SVC, RESVC, and SMTPSVC. For more detail, review the event logs for events related to these services. It may help to stop and then restart these services. You can disable this alert or change its threshold by using the Change Alert Notifications task in the Server Management Monitoring and Reporting taskpad. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was unable to find any issues so I increased the threshold for the alert but I am still getting it quite regularly. Sometimes I will receive this 3 or 4 times a day other days its less. Today when I've gone into the Application Log there are batches of Event ID 7010 which read: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is an SMTP protocol log for virtual server ID 1, connection #58. The client at "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" sent a "xexch50" command, and the SMTP server responded with "504 Need to authenticate first ". The full command sent was "xexch50 1036 2". This will probably cause the connection to fail. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am also receiving: This is an SMTP protocol log for virtual server ID 1, connection #57. The client at "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" sent a "helo" command, and the SMTP server responded with "501 5.5.4 Invalid Address ". The full command sent was "helo pR&". This will probably cause the connection to fail. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have checked our server numerous times and we are not an open relay. I cannot work out how to solve this issue. I am assuming that the Alert from inetinfo and this event MAY be linked. I have checked the queues often and they are not huge, in fact quite small (we only have a dozen users) so I am unsure what the problem might be. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated at this point. Regards Belinda
