Problems with recipient name/address resolution.
Scenario 1: Exchange 2007 on a Server 2003 network. Clients running both Outlook 2003 and 2007 Account 1 is Robert Smith (RobertS@xyz.com) alias roberts Account 2 is a contact Rob Swartz (Rob.Swartz@xyz.com) alias RobSwartz Scenario 2: Identical to Scenario 1 except for Account 2. (Reusing names for simplicity) Account 2 is another user Rob Saber (RobSa@xyz.com) alias RobSa When a user, who is either too stupid, lazy, or in a hurry, goes to send Account 1 an e-mail, they type robs in for the recipient and hits send. It resolves to Account 2. We added a secondary email address to Account 1 (RobS@xyz.com) in hopes that it would fix the issue, but no. We also ruled out Auto Complete by turning it off. I refuse to create a new e-mail account to fix this as that is a poor answer. Is there anything I can do to make name/address resolution look for a better match in the secondary addresses before choosing to consider the call a shortened version of an alias and resolving it incorrectly?

Hi, Base on my locate test, if you typed an ambiguous name at first time, outlook will prompt you to choose it, once you have selected, outlook will remember it and always use it as a result. In your case, even you have an account whose name is robs, it will still redirect it to account 2. I suggest you reset your Outlook automatic name completion. Please locate at: C:\%userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook There should be a file named *.nk2. Rename or delete it. Next time when you type robs, Outlook will prompt to choose the right one you want. Thanks for an answer, but doesn't help me. All it did was make it take longer to come up with the name.It just appears that it doesn't look at secondary e-mail addresses at all.
