Problems With NTBackup
I can back up fine to file, but when I run the backup to tape (Dell PowerVault114 LTO2) I get the following. Backup Status Operation: Backup Active backup destination: LTO Ultrium Media name: "Media created 5/22/2008 at 10:07 PM" Volume shadow copy creation: Attempt 1. Backup (via shadow copy) of "E: Application" Backup set #1 on media #1 Backup description: "Set created 5/22/2008 at 10:07 PM" Media name: "Media created 5/22/2008 at 10:07 PM" Backup Type: Normal Backup started on 5/22/2008 at 10:07 PM. Error: The device reported an error on a request to write data to media. Error reported: Unknown error. There may be a hardware or media problem. Please check the system event log for relevant failures. The operation was ended. Backup completed on 5/22/2008 at 10:07 PM. Directories: 6 Files: 4 Bytes: 3,124,297 Time: 1 second Error: E: is not a valid drive, or you do not have access. ---------------------- The operation did not successfully complete. ----------------------Any Ideas?http://pastebin.ca/1032325

You post NTBACKUP issue on the Exchange Server Forum. As the NTBACKUP issue mostly relates to Server system components issue, I suggest you post it to Windows Server Forum which will be better to solve your problem. Meanwhile, Detailed system event logs will help a lot for troubleshooting this issue, so do not forget to attach the event log information while posting to Windows Server Forum. Windows Server Forum. I would turn the tape drive on and off. Use a cleaning tape and insert a new tape. It would also be worth rebooting the server before undertaking the steps just mentioned. Also ensure the correct driver is installed for the unit.
