Problems Extending Schema Exchange 2010 wer.dll
Yesterday I tried to extend the schema for Exchange 2010. we have 5 different sites. The site with our schema master is a 32bit server, All servers are 32bit (Server 2003 SP2) except for our exchange 2007 mbx and cas (Server 2003 x64 SP2). We copied the exchange 2010 files to 2 different cas, both times when attempting to extend the schema we are presented with an error that says wer.dll could not be found/failed to initialize. Unsure how to resolve this. From some searching I find to either call PSS, or not install on Server 2003 R2, though these are NOT R2 servers. Any ideas on the fix for the wer.dll? or is it just going to be easier to bring up a 2008 member server in that site to extend the schema thanks

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125224.aspx Although, it does not call out explicitly, use a windows 2008 server to extend the schema. You have to install one for Exchange server anyway. Just bring the server up and extend the schema.

we have our 2008 servers for 2010 in a different site, we'll bring up a temp 2008 server just to extend. having our schema master in a different site then our 2010 servers, this shouldn't be a problem right? (given time for replication across sites) Thanks again
