Problem installing hotfix KB951982 on stand-alone Outlook 2003 installation
Hi Guys and Gals, I'm having the following problem applying a hotfix at a customer's site: When trying to apply the hotfix KB951982, I receive the error message "The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the windows installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different verion of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch."" The patch is for Office 2003 specifically to fix issues with Outlook 2003. My client has only Outlook 2003 (v11.5608.5606) as part of SBS. I have also tried applying the patch to the administrative install MSI package with the same result. How do I get around this one? Thanks & Regards, Stuart

Hi Shafaquat, This error is happening in Windows 7 machines with Windows Installer 4.5 installed. I believe the error above is trying to indicate that the hotfix is expecting to find Office 2003 installed, not just Outlook 2003. Regards, Stuart
