Problem deploying exchange /pl No DC in the AD DC OU
System Admins moved all the domain controllers in the org to a Servers OU. When doign setup /pl I receive the following error message: [ERROR] Cannot find at least one domain controller running Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 or later in domain 'DC=NMDP,DC=ORG'. This could be the result of moving domain controller objects in Active Directory. Check that at least one domain controller running Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 or later is located in the 'Domain Controllers' organizational unit (OU) and rerun setup. Now, the system Admins do not want to move any of the DCs back into the DC ou. Does anyone know of a way to specifiy a OU or a way to get setup to work without moving a DC back into the DC OU?

You may try DomainController parameter which specifies to setup to use a domain controllerfor read from and write to Active Directory. Switch is /DomainController:< NameOfDC > or /dc:<NameOfDC>

Thanks for the quick reply. I had the domin admins move a few DCs back into the default container.

Hi, When we use Setup/pl, it queries the global catalog in the domain where it is executed and confirms that an Exchange legacy (Exchange2003 or Exchange2000) server exists in the organization and then identifies domains where Exchange2003 or Exchange2000 DomainPrep has been run by looking for Exchange Enterprise Servers (EES) and Exchange Domain Servers (EDS) So when you run Exchange setup/pl, please make sure that at least one DC is in the DC container.
