Problem changing single occurences on a recurring event.
I have a recurring event setup on a public calendar in Exchange 2003 Standard. I had a problem with an event when I wanted to make changes to individual occurrences of the event. For example I have a boat trip setup for 3:00PM every Tues. - Wed. - Thurs.- Fri. and it is setup to never end. This event does not change except for the Driver and Boat assigned for a particular day which is setup in the Notes section of the event. It worked for about a year but recently when I would try to make changes it would give me an error: Two occurrences of "appointment subject" cannot happen on the same day. Searching around on the net for answers I found that some Microsoft professionals say this is not the proper way to use recurring events. My question is: What is the "Microsoft Way" to handle recurring events on a calendar?

I dont know what the Microsoft way is, but resource mailboxes are a much better place to create shared calendars rather than a public folder calendar.

Recurring event is a limit for the number of the individual exceptions. These exceptions are created when an individual occurrence is edited and made unique. The information that makes the occurrence unique is stored as a hidden attachment to the "parent" or master calendar item. There is a limit of 248 exceptions that can be stored on a single master item. When the affected recurring event was edited enough times to produce more than 248 exceptions To prevent this condition, it’s recommended that all recurring event have a range of no more than 90 to 120 days, and have a definite end date. This limits the number of unique occurrences of an event so the limit of 248 exceptions is never reached I would suggest you to use a new recurring event, and then set an end date for itJames Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com
