Problem accessing OWA using alias
We are having an issue accessing mailboxes via OWA and the mailbox alias where we get a 404: Page Cannot be Found error. However if we use teh SMTP email address for the mailbox it works straight away. Therefore https://mailserver/Exchange/alias failes with 404 error but https://mailserver/Exchange/email@domain.com works fine! Any ideas how to get this working using the mailbox alias as our backup system is looking for this to perform restores with? Thanks

I assume you have E2003? The RTM version used to form the mailbox URL in the way you describe using the alias, but since SP1, you have to use an SMTP in the Primary SMTP domain (as you have discovered). If your backup system vendor still provides technical support, you need some kind of upgrade. I don't believe there's any other easy answer to this. If you can't get updated software, then a custom 404 handler applied to the Exchange VDir (redirecting /exchange/alias to /exchange/user@domain.com) might work. I've never tried it, though.Outlook Web Access For PDA , OWA For WAP www.owa-pda.com email a@t leederbyshire d.0.t c.0.m

Hi, As I known, the username format will work only if the domain name has been configured. Could you please try to modify the logon.asp file follow this article? http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/OWA2003Forms-based-Authentication-default-domain.htmlPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Thanks Lee, that would appear to be the problem. I have contacted the backup provider to ask for an update to be produced. Craig
