Problem With Exchange Web Access on Clean install of Exchange 2003
Hey All, Having an issue with outlook web access on a clean install of Exchange 2003 sitting on Server 2003 Standard. This is the Third Exchange server and soon to be a replacement for one of the other two. Exchange installed fine, test mailboxes moved across no problem and the virtual directories in IIS 6 were created successfully. On first try to connect to webmail, nothing was displayed on the secure channel (Https://server3/exchange) all though port 80 was returning an "under construction" message. I recreated the sites and now have it working, or so I thought. Https://server3/exchange is redirecting to the original servers Webmail (https://server1/exchange). Is this a common occurrence? Can it be changed so it points only at the new server? Thanks in advance.

No, If you are using Https://server3/exchange its will land on server exchage server3. What about if you hit @ http:\\server3\exchange. I belive virtual directory was not created correctly.Anil

An Exchange 2003 server will redirect the OWA session to the mailbox server hosting the mailbox unless the server you are connecting to is configured to be a front-end server, in which case it will proxy the OWA session for the mailbox server. So, if you intend the new server to be a mailbox server, move a mailbox to it and you should see that OWA does not redirect for that mailbox. If you intend the new server to be a front-end server and not host mailboxes, check the box. -- Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems." . Thanks for the reply guys, I have moved a test mailbox to the new server already and it still redirects to server1. Using https://server3/exchange reveals nothing, where as http://server1/exchange redirects me to server3. I have recreated the Virtual Directories (Remove All virtual Directories, remove the DS2MB entry via metabase explorer and restarted exchange services) which recreates the directory but the problem still persists. Any more help would be greatly appreciated

It points to server1 when you log on to the test mailbox even though you moved the mailbox to server3? Is that what you're saying? -- Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems." .
