Problem After Moving Public Folders from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2007
We are in the midst of an upgrade to 2010. However we are consolidating services on a single exchange 2007 server to repurpose hardware. The scenario is, I have moved public folders from the original to the secondary mail server using the moveallreplicas script. All public folders appear on the new server and running the Get-PublicFolderStatistics -Server command returns nothing on the old server but returns all public folders on the new temp server. So that data has replicated. However the issue we are seeing is that if the original server is powered off, outlook 2003 clients cannot connect to the public folders in outlook. Also OWA connections to public folders takes at least one minute to appear after clicking the icon. Some outlook 2007 clients are also experiencing this problem but not all. As soon as we power up the original server, and the public folder is mounted all services are immediately restored and functions as normal again. We need to keep the public folder database mounted on the old server for proper operation. I have read through a number of articles and I am not sure what I am missing at this point. There is obviously some record that still exists that is tying clients to the old server still but Im not sure what. Everything else including all mailboxes, connectors, etc are already moved to the new temp server so the public folder is the only thing left with no data in it as it appears as well. Any help in resolving this is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Did you change the public folder database that the mailbox database is pointing to? You will find this setting in the Database -> Properties -> Client Settings tab. Make sure the default PF database is pointing to the correct database.Tim Harrington - Catapult Systems - http://HowDoUC.blogspot.com

You know what, I completely overlooked that and sure enough they were still all pointing to the old/original server. I have made this change and I will monitor. Hopefully that is the last piece at this point. Thanks for pointing that out!

Actually, now I'm trying to replicate public folders but it seems didn't work. Maybe I was wrong something before install exchange 2010. For install exchange 2010 on 2k8 R2, I updated as below: setup.com /PrepareLegacyExchangePermissions setup.com /PrepareSchema Setup.com /PrepareAD Setup.com /PrepareDomain Install Exchange 2010 => Move mailbox account from ex2k7 to new mail server (ex2010).....
