Problem: Configuring Redundant Log shipping in ccr cluster Exchange 2007 sp1
Hi, I am facing problem in configuring Redundant log shipping in ccr cluster Exchange 2007 sp1 on windows 2003 cluster. When i enable second private network card, the hearbeat network card is automatically disable in cluster while i am using same subnet for both the private networks. If i use differnt subnet for second network card and run Enable-ContinuousReplicationHostName cmd, i get following error Enable-ContinuousReplicationHostName : Cluster validation failed : The clustered mailbox server's specified IP address (192.168.1.2) could not be used because it is already in use. Re-run Setup, and specify a unique IP address. I am following http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/high-availability-recovery/exchange-server-2007-sp1-configuring-redundant-network-log-shipping.html any help is appreciated. Thanks.

The replication network must be a different logical network. You can do something with that network as simple as installing a crossover cable (modern servers don't even require a crossover cable; a plain straight-through cable may work) between the two servers. Then you give each server a different address on some private subnet you aren't using. Don't put a default gateway on that network. You can have both NICs on the same physical network, just make sure that it's a different IP subnet than the production network. However, that kind of setup makes no sense to me because it doesn't offer you any real redundancy while complicating your configuration. Hi Crowley, I did the same configuration as you say. 172.23.x.x subnet (public) 10.0.x.x private heartbead for cluster no DG 10.0.x.y redundant pivate network(through cross cable) no DG In this config the cluster hearbeat 10.10.x.x becoming failed/disable in cluster administrator and both node are unable to ping. same time if i change the ip in redundant private network to 192.168.x.x both nodes are pingable to each other with both the privat n/w's, but when i run Enable-ContinuousReplicationHostName cmd, i get following error: Enable-ContinuousReplicationHostName : Cluster validation failed : The clustered mailbox server's specified IP address (192.168.1.2) could not be used because it is already in use. Re-run Setup, and specify a unique IP address.wasay13

Sorry I didn't understand the issue sooner--this is something I've run across myself. You need separate IP addresses for the Continuous Replication hostnames. Assign different IP addresses from the ones you have already assigned on that network.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

Hi, For this issue, I suggest you refer to the below article to check the configuration: http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/high-availability-recovery/exchange-server-2007-sp1-configuring-redundant-network-log-shipping.html Thanks ALLENAllen Song
