Prevent one user from sending to specific email account.
Hello, I want to prevent a user from sending an email to external account like "ex@ex.com". This rule should be applied to this user only. Also i want to capture all emails that come from "*@ex.com" to a specific user and route them to another mail box. Could you please advice if this can be happened. I am using exchange 2007 sp2. Thanks in advance.

For the first part you could create a mail contact and use Message Delivery Restrictions to prevent the specific user from sending to it. The second part should be possible with an Exchange 2007 Transport Rule. Use the "when the From address contains text patterns" to match the sending domain and then choose the "redirect message to address" option.Tony http://www.activedir.org Blog: http://www.open-a-socket.com

Great, thank you very much Tony. Appreciated. Regarding the first one, i have implemented it and it is working. But what if I want a delivery restrictions for a specific domain denied for a specific user (ie, same of first one but whole domain like *@ex.com). I tried the *@ex.com in the mail contact but it didn't work, is there another solution. Best Regards,

you can create a new transport rule to restricting emails to the internet on a per user and per domain, Take a look at the following article: http://exchangeserverpro.com/restricting-outbound-email-with-exchange-server-2007-transport-rules http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2010/01/18/3409197.aspx Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. That looks to be more difficult. You might be able to achieve your goal with Transport Rules using the "when the message header contains text patterns" condition. If that proves unworkable you would probably need to write a custom Transport Rule. Perhaps someone else has a better solution?Tony
