Prevent Email bouncing
HI, We have limited mailbox sizes for our users. Due to this their mailboxes get full and new arriving email bounces. We need to prevent this. Can we make some settings so that oldest emails (or old data) is automatically deleted as mailbox gets full ? Thanks Avvya

You can configure retention tags which is used to apply retention settings to folders and individual items such as e-mail messages . These settings specify how long a message remains in a mailbox and the action to be taken when the message reaches the specified retention age. When a message reaches its retention age, it's moved to the personal archive or deleted. But in retention tag you can not define it to work for when mailbox size is full. you can define age. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd297955.aspx Anil

Version of Exchange would help. However there is nothing in Exchange that will remove old email messages for you automatically. The retention tag and archive being referred to above is Exchange 2010 only, and as already stated, only works on age. I am not aware of any solution that will look at the size of the mailbox and base archiving decisions on that. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.

I think ComVault's Data Migrator does (or can). --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
