Prepareschema, preparead, preparedomain does not extend my user attributes
I have a separate forest/domain that will allow selective access to my applications via a trust, and I would like to have the "extensionAttributex" from Exchange 2007 available on my user objects to mirror an application used in my regular production environment. I will not actually be installing Exchange in this forest.I've run setup with the prepareschema, preparead and preparedomain flags and it has executed without error, however the extensionAttribute properties are not available on my existing or new user objects. I've examined the schema with adsiedit and I see the CN=ms-Exch-Extension-Attribute-x entries so I'm having trouble deciding where to go next to diagnose why they don't appear on my user objects. Note that I am setting the attribute with a Powershell script, which is working fine in my Exchange environment, and I've reconfirmed by editing the object with ADSIEdit under the domain tree, and still do not see the attributes. Is there some later step of the Exchange which actually binds the schema updates to user objects?
