Prepare AD
Currently have one Exchange 2003 server and beginning the process of adding a 2007 server. Looking through the docs for updating AD and the schema. When running setup /PrepareAD /Orgname , I assume I am to use our current org which is "Blank Department of Blank". I hope there are no issues with 2007 and using spaces. Will I need to use quotes in the command? One more question, when it comes to moving mailboxes, will Outlook users need a new mail profile after their mailbox is moved? Thanks

Hello, Yes spaces should work in org name, actually you dont have to give organization with orgname switch while preparing your AD, it will detect automatically. It is required only in case you dont have any organization created. References: How to Prepare Active Directory and Domains http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125224(EXCHG.80).aspx White Paper: Preparing Active Directory for Exchange 2007 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb288907.aspx I would suggest you to run http://ExBPA.com for Exchange 2007 readiness check. It checks for the standard settings required for Exchange 2007 based on rules defined by Microsoft by scanning your environment. If you find any error then it suggests you how to resolve it. After moving your mailboxes from Exchange 2003 to 2007 you dont have to do anything, outlook will automatically points to new server. (Keep the Exchange 2003 server alive until you feel that all outlook clients are connected or opened by users, after removing/uninstalling original Exchange 2003 server if any outlook profile which is not opened anytime after movement then it requires manual pointing to new server)
