It's the schema update that is failing. I would introduce a Windows Server 20008 R2 domain controller into your domain, promote it to Schema Master, then run the schema preparation step on that server. I would not install Exchange on that server because it's not a best practice to run Exchange on a domain controller. Further, I'd skip Exchange 2007 completely and go straight to Exchange 2010 SP1. Hi, Please try the steps below: 1. Enable the Outbound Replication on the Schema Master and then force the AD replication. 2. Try to add the Exchange Servers group in the Manage Auditing and security policy logs in the security settings of the default domain controller. Thanks.Best Regards!

we had similar issues here and referenced the following article for assistance. ensure that the account you are using to setup Exchange is in all the correct groups. also, double check your DNS configuration. hope this helps http://www.messagingtalk.org/how-to-install-exchange-2007-part1

I have tried eveything mentioned but still having the same error ... i think about demoting the AD on the old exchange and just keep the new AD 2008 then re run the preparing schema again , so does this effect exchange 2003 functions !! or help solving the issue !

You had Windows 2003 DC before and later you moved it to a Windows 2008 SP2 64-bit , correct?Where Technology Meets Talent

I still have the windows 2003 DC and the exchange 2003 is installed over it. There is no windows 2008 SP2 right now where i have formated it and installed windows 2008 R2 and make it a domain member in order to install the exchange 2010 over it. While i was trying to install Exchange 2007 i have tried to move all the roles from the 2003 and make the windows 2008 SP2 the PDC and demote the DC2003 then trying to install the exchange 2007 but i got the same error.

As i mentioned i have Windows 2003 SP2 which is a DC and a mail server (Exchange 2003 SP2) on the same box. What i was trying to do is to add windows 2008 SP2 to the domain and install windows 2007 and Migrate the old Mailboxes to it, but as i mentioned before i was getting the error mentioned above. Today i have formatted the windows 2008 Sp2 and install windows 2008 R2 in order to deploy Exchagne 2010 instead of the Exchange 2007 but i got the same exact error during the installation process on "organization preperation" which is as below Summary: 12 item(s). 0 succeeded, 1 failed. Elapsed time: 00:00:02 Organization Preparation Failed Error: The following error was generated when "$error.Clear(); if($RoleUpdateResourcePropertySchema) { set-resourceconfig -ResourcePropertySchema $null -DomainController $RoleDomainController }" was run: "Active Directory operation failed on mail.mydomain.com.jo. Hi, You need toIf you are installing the first Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2 domain controller in the forest, run the adprep /forestprep command on the server that holds the schema master operations master (also known as flexible single master operations or FSMO) role If you are installing the first Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2 domain controller in the domain, run the adprep /domainprep /gpprep command on the server that holds the infrastructure operations master role
