Powering off Exchange 2003 clusters
This weekend our company will be having a power outage that will require our Exchange 2003 A/A/P cluster to be powered off. Does anybody have the proper procedure for shutting it down. I found the following but wanted to confirm with anybody that has done this.1. Stop the clustered mailbox servers on both active nodes by taking each offline viacluster administrator2. Shut down the passive node.3. Shut down one of the active nodes.4. Shut down the other active node.To start up the entire cluster, you:1. Boot up the node you shut down in step 4 above.2. Boot up the node you shut down in step 3 above.3. Boot up the passive node.4. Start the clustered mailbox servers. Thanks,Jim

Done it a million times and that should work fine. Generally, i take the cluster offline entirely before shutting down any servers in it though. Also, if you are shutting down your DCs/GCs, have those back online before powering up the exchange environment.

Thanks for the confirmation...and by taking the cluster offline entirely you mean the default cluster group with the quorum disk or just the Exchange virtual servers? And I would assume the server that holds that default cluster group with the quorum should be the first node powered on? Thanks again.
