Power View Scatter/Bubble Charts

Hello all, several questions...

  • Where is the definitive documentation found? I'm finding several links, but none really complete to address the questions below.

Would appreciate answers/guidance on the following:

  • Under what conditions is the "Other Chart" option in the ribbon Design Tab grayed out?
  • Why does control+click not consistently work to select multiple data series to highlight for showing the data traces? Is there some trick? Related, is there a "select all" option? Am trying to achieve the visual effect of a regular line-connected scatter chart plus the animations.
    • btw, it seems that in scatter (not bubble) charts when both the detail and color fields are used, multiple selection is not possible.
  • Why does clicking on a data point not always reveal the label? What are the steps to add labels to data points that are always visible (not hover boxes)?
  • Is it possible to label points in a data series in scatter charts? This seems possible in bubble charts, but not scatter charts.
  • Is the only way to have a legend appear by putting data series names into the Color field?
  • Is there an option to specify the range of the axis as with regular charts?
  • At what number of play axis data points does it state "representative sample?" How can the representative sample warning bar be turned off so it is not viewed?
  • Is there a maximum number of data points that prevents a chart from functioning?
  • What - exactly - does the Details field do in contrast to the Color field? Some behaviors are similar.
  • Is there a way to assign specific colors to specific data series? Would be helpful for them to be consistent across charts. As it is, they change each time the workbook is opened?
  • Can the default size of the bubbles be shrunk?
  • Why does highlighting a data series in a bubble chart change the size of some of the bubbles in the data series when it plays -- beyond just brightening the color? Sometimes the first or last bubble grows in size. Sometimes it is random in between.
  • Is there a way to darken the data watermark?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello Emi, thank you for provided the page and video link. Neither has the depth to be helpful for many situations. Thus, would you please pass onto your colleagues the suggestions:

* To provide more complete documentation?

* To point other Power View links to those main links?

Hello Emi,

Thank you. Beyond the question about the primary documentation link, there were an number of other questions.

* Did you want me to post those as a group (as above with the bullets) or post each bullet as a question?

Please let me know and i'll post.

thanks
