Power Query workbook confiict error

Does anyone know anything about this error? A customer is looking to remove the conflict between the two workbooks, but he can't find any information on this error.

One workbook was copied from the other, and he did launch power pivot at one point, but should not have any data stored. He has tried to delete the power pivot data but can't seem to get rid of it completely. Launching power pivot at this point tends to crash excel. Is it possible to remove the conflict

Hi Carla,

Did you get the error message like this:

The workbook "File name" has been copied from an open workbook that contains both Power Query and PowerPivot data.
If you wish to continue using the Power Query data in this workbook, please close the following workbooks: "File name"

If yes, this issue may be caused by the data can't be used with both of the Power Query and PowerPivot at same time.

I recommend try the steps below:

  • Close the workbook that mentioned of the error message, and make sure the temp file "~$filename" is closed completely.
  • Re-create the data connection and does not add them to Data model to test.

If no, please give us the full error message or some screenshots.
