Power Query Can't upload Excel File from Sharepoint - get error saying doc is fomrated in HTML

I am trying to access an excel file from a sharepoint document library in a power query. I get the following error:

DataSource.Error: The downloaded data is HTML, which is not the expected type. The URL may be wrong, or you may not have provided the right credentials to the server.

The document is in a *.xlsx format and opens correctly in excel. I am logged into the sharepoint site and can easily pick the file through the Query.  Does this have more to do with the link likely opening it as an Excel Online File rather than an Excel 2013 file? Is there a way around it?

Which version of the Add-in do you have? Add-in version: 2.20.3945.242 may resolve this issue.

I'm seeing the same issue that aphelioncap described, and have version 2.20.3945.242 installed.

My *.xlsx files are in a SharePoint document library, and are being interpreted as html when using this M: Excel.Workbook(Web.Contents("filepath.xlsx"))

Thanks Gil, the answers in that post resolved the issue for me.

Me too. The steps there explained what the issue was and how to fix. I couldn't fathom what the error meant "The downloaded data is HTML, which is not the expected type." and I did try signing in and out again. Didn't occur to me that the connection was "confused".
