Power Pivot Hanging/Crashing

I have found this delightful Add-in (along with Power Query) and I love it. I'm pretty excited to work with it in the future. I have so far created 10 queries/reports and it has worked beautifully. However, I'm currently experiencing an issue.

From a blank Excel, I go to one very simple Excel Workbook (3 columns and maybe 15 rows) to "Add to DataModel" - and Excel freezes/hangs/crashes (not sure of the right term) when I browse-> and click on the file. I've restarted my computer and tried the exact same thing and it still freezes.

I've contacted my IT help desk but I want to make sure I've exhausted everything before they do anything "drastic."

Maybe re-installing the Add-in? Re-installing Excel?

I'm not sure what could cause this since I have no data in the worksheet, yet. Weird.

Thanks!

Which Excel version do you use?

Do you experience the hang/crash on other selected tables, or just the specific one?

Hi,

We may find useful information to determine the root cause of the issue by event logs.

Press Win + R, type "eventvwr" in the blank box, press Enter.

In the Event Viewer, browse to Windows Logs -> Application, chech the error messages about the crash.

You can send us the logs, then we can help analyze the issue on our side. To protect your private information, please send the information to our email address:

Office 365

I have a very simple table (3 columns, maybe 15 rows) and it crashes each time. I have a report due on Monday, so I applied a "band-aid" by pasting that table into the workbook and then hiding the tab. It works fine with it so "close."

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the table being on a network drive? I had IT reinstall Excel and the issue still arose.

I "sent a frown" to the Power Query team and they said it was a known issue (connection being grayed out). I will let you know if I find out something.
