Post Exchange 2003 recovery problem mailbox reconnect
the client Exchange server crashed over the weekend. Problem was it was installed on a PDC that was also the FSMO After few hours we got it all up and running, one problem left; About 30 mailboxes are still showing as disconnected. If you browse for the user from AD users and computers, user is found. If you try to reconnect the user to his disconnected mailbox through Exchange management console, user is not found. The significance is that the users I am unable to reconnect has the permission set wrong, only SELF is listed. I did not reset the permissions at the top level yet, since most mailboxes are working. ALSO, when seizing FSMO, I did not make the Infrastructure Manager the GC, to my recollection it is no best practice. this clearly seems to be a permission issue, since once I removed the rest of the DC from the network, two more mailboxes were fine after the client rebooted. Any help on the matter is greatly appreciated

Hi - not sure if this is still an open issue after all this time, but it would help if you described the exact process via which the restore was accomplished (as well as exactly what "crashed" meant - the base OS? AD? Exchange? Were there other DCs? Did you have full online backups of system state as well as Exchange?) The more information you provide the more succinct help you will get.Lanwench [MVP - Exchange] ** Do not fold, spindle or mutilate. Fill in the box completely and erase any stray marks. Use only a #2 pencil.
