Possible to send Mail using secondary smtp-Address instead of primary SMTP?
Hi everybody, I am sure that some of you might have already hit the same problem and one might even have come to a solution... I have a customer using Exchange 2007 SP2. There are 3 external mail domains in use. All smtp-addresses are using the following pattern: givenname.surname@first-domain.tld givenname.surname@second-domain.tld givenname.surname@third-domain.tld In Exchange every user has his respective addresses on his mailbox with the @first-domain.tld as primary SMTP-address and the other two adresses as secondary smtp-addresses. The problem is now that my valued customer has to be able to send with each of his mail adresses. Exchange now - as we all know - always uses the primary smtp address as the from:-address in outgoing mails. Is there ANY supported way to do this except for one of the following "solutions" 1) create distribution groups (one with the @second-domain.tld and one with the @third-domain.tld) and add the user to "his" group and grant him the "send as" permission on the group. then add the From-Field to Outlook and have the user choose the distribuition group to send from... 2) create a mailbox for every alternate address and forward all incoming mail to the "primary" user. grant that user the "send as" on the other mailboxes. then add the From-Field to outlook et cetera... My personal opinion is that the above "solutions" are - pardon the expression - bullshit and total ____ because we have to create multiple objects in active directory for EACH user. This creates an enormous amount of additional work for the administrator... (yeah, sometimes I am lazy - especially if there have to be more elegant solutions). I even thought of implemeting a transport agent to solve that... Anyone from Microsoft maybe? Thanks in advance!

Yes agreed. Exchange donot have native tool to make this possible. You need to opt for third party. similar case below http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvradmin/thread/d25297c9-3430-4aea-887f-acdd31479f28 You can also take a look @ http://ivasoft.com/choosefrom2007.shtmlVinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

Yes, as the friends said above, Exchange 2007 doesn't have such a feature, you need to leverage the third party solutions. Thanks,Elvis
