Hi really need help im stuck We moved premises and therefore had a new ISP with a new static IP address (everything was fine before we moved) The router used is set to allow all required ports etc in it forward port to the server ip address we can send and receive internally fine. Can send externally fine but cannot receive mail from the outside world All domain names have been pointed to the new external ip address I did a nslookup MX type and got the following results > set type=mx > mail.thebusinessfort.co.uk Server: UnKnown Address: 192.168.35.240 thebusinessfort.co.uk primary name server = ns.mainnam responsible mail addr = hostmast serial = 2010101550 refresh = 86400 (1 day) retry = 604800 (7 days) expire = 2419200 (28 days) default TTL = 10800 (3 hours) The Ip address is the routers ip address > mailserver.thebusinessfort.co.uk Server: UnKnown Address: 192.168.35.240 Non-authoritative answer: mailserver.thebusinessfort.co.uk MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = mai l.thebusinessfort.co.uk We had a smarthost being used before but now just use DNS for the mail > Really need help to fix this thanks >

The port doesn't appear open, or the default gateway is configured incorrectly. You need to look at your network configuration carefully. If the router is a Netgear type router, then use the wizards in SBS to manage it for you. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources

Go to mxtoolbox.com and run the queries http://www.mxtoolbox.com/ Also if you can run a simple test of telnetting any MX record from your workstation , if the port is open should help to find whether port 25 is open. MXtoolbox might be useful only for the smarthost. ( for smtp tests)

Hi N2w, Any update for your issue? Above gave some good suggestion. I also want to verify that: Did you make the nslookup from the internet? As normal, when you change the MX for new one, it need appoximate four hours to sync/update during the public DNS server. Regards! Gavin
