Port 25 on the Edge Server
Hi, recently we managed to get Exchange 2007 to work fully, for some reason after a reboot of the edge server, port 25 was locked down, we cant telnet into the port 25 or even get mail to come into the server now, no settings were changed, only security updates were auto installed, ICS is disabled and the is no anti virus software on the edge server, the only allowed ports open on the server are 23, 25 and icmp, everything else is blocked outAny ideas why port 25 has been locked down and any ideas on how to unlock it again

Hi, All exchange services configured to automatic start started?? Any events logged in the application log? Do you know which updates were installed (if above doesn't say anything you could try to uninstall these)? Leif

Yes all services start on start up, the Edge Sync works fine, all the updates installed over night while i was away from the server, im guessing that they are all the standard updates that Microsoft released after service pack 2

Since removing all the security updates to back when the server last worked, port 25 has become unlocked again, I don't know which of the security updates blocked it, something that should be looked at in future
