Pop3 connector service wont start
Help! I think I Killed it! I have a server running SBS2003 premium and everything was running great.Except for the individual email store limitations problem caused by our employees having to keep all business related emails, causing everyone to archive their email locally. while I was installing Microsoft exchange server archiving agent i got to a point where the next step was configuring it and since it was Friday I stopped at that point. Unfortunately over the weekend we sustained a power outage longer than the ups could last. ( The automatic shutdown software did not work however that is another story.) when the server was powered back up Monday morning everything came back up except the pop3 connector. all services start up and run except "Microsoft connector for pop3 mailboxes" when you try to start this service you get.. (Could not start Microsoft connector for pop3 mailboxes service on local computer. Error 193: 0xc1)

Here is some additional information that may be helpful. There is nothing in the event log indicating any failure of the pop3 connector service. When the server boots up the pop3 connector does not start. When I go to pop3 connector manager and click on retrieve now then OK, I get a message that the connector service is not running and to click ok to start it. Upon clicking OK I immediately get an error message stating (Could not start the Microsoft connector for pop3 mailboxes service. Open services, and verify that the following are running: Microsoft exchange information store, Microsoft exchange information store, Microsoft exchange routing engine, and Microsoft exchange system attendant.) all of these services are running. When I go to services.msc and try to start the connector is when I get the message posted above.

The pop3 problem has been resolved. two .dll files failed to load when server booted up because a file named program misteriously appeared in the root directory of the drive exchange is installed on. when the system is booting up it tries to load x:\program files\?????.dll it sees program in the root dir and crashes.
