Policies - Default Limits
now every new user(mailbox) has a limit of 2gb. is there a way to change this default setting (and other like maintenance, indexing, default pf store) like policies in exchange 2000/3?

Sure. In EMC, go under Server Configuration, Mailbox. Then go to the properties of the Mailbox Store, and go to the Limits tab. You'll see several different default limits. You can also set this for individual users (again, from EMC), by going to Recipient Configuration, Mailbox, User properties, Mailbox Settings, Storage Quotas properties. If there is something specific that you can't find in there, post back and we'll help you out.

Yes. I remember these settings. But in Exchange 2000/3 you could create Policies and apply it to more then one stores/servers. Now you could create only settings to one store/server and then to another. Policies were good to set limits and other settings one time and apply it to 5 and more servers or 20 or more stores.

Unfortunately that was one of the early cuts made in Exchange 2007--we found most folks organized around setting properties on the mailbox databases directly and used that as a unit of management (this is what Ben mentioned earlier). You also have the ability to do bulk setting (of basically anything in Exchange)through the shell. Thanks, ~vivek
