I'm looking to set up an automatic bounceback for a user who's no longer in our organzation (does not have a mailbox). I am not interested in setting up a mailbox, as this would be additional licensing. I have tried creating a Mail Contact with his old email address, but the transport rule does not seem to work for outside senders, only internal users. I tried using a public folder, but I can't wrap my head around getting the condition and condition.addresses strings to work with a public folder. Any ideas?

In most cases, shared and resource mailboxes do not require a CAL as they are not associated with an active user. I would check with your licensing rep to confirm, but thats generally the rule.

He has about 8 email aliases, so that way would be a last resort; but i also did not see that option in the GUI, nor have I yet looked in to it for EMS. Can anyone provide sample powershell cmdlets?
