Please Help if you can :) Corrupt User profile
Hello, I am using Windows XP Media Edition and I went to turn on my computer the other day and I received this error message " Windows cannot load your profile because it may be corrupted. You may be logged in using a temporary User Profile. " I used another computer, which has Windows XP, to try and do research to fix the problem. I found this tutorial on Microsoft Help and Support. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318011/en-usand http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=811151 This seemed like it would be the solution. I created two new users. (one to copy the old profile to, and the other because it said you cannot be on the profile in which you are copying to or from). After doing the steps the problem computer would begin to copy the files and when it was almost done I would get this error message. "Cannot copy UsrClass: it is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again." I then click okay, and it cancels the entire copying process. I was not logged into either account and had no programs running. I am hoping that there is some very smart tech person who knows what I could do. Thanks for helping if you can! "Rocketgirl"

Before you can delete a profile, you need to reboot the computer and logon as another user. Once you logon as a user (or try to logon) Windows keeps some of the profile information (mostly the Registry, I think) open. Reboot the computer, logon as your new admin, then try to copy the profile. You might havebetter luck with this question in one of the Windows operating system forums. No one but us Exchange geeks here. http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/default.aspx?ForumGroupID=204&SiteID=17 Anyway, hope my suggestion helps out. Jim
