Pivot Tables on Multiple Sheets change when changing grouping

Hi All,

I'm not that familiar with Pivot tables but I'll try my best to explain what I'm seeing and what I want to achieve.

I have a spreadsheet with multiple sheets and a pivot table on each sheet. Each sheet has a pivot table that gets it's data from a table in the first sheet. the data is basically a report of support cases opened by a particular customer exported into an Excel format and pasted into the first sheet.

Each sheet is used to display that report data in a different way (i.e. Cases opened by month, Cases opened by quarter, Average Cases per month, etc...)

The problem I have is (For example) if I change the pivot table on the "Cases Opened by Month" and group the data by month to show me the number of cases opened per month format, The pivot table on the "Cases opened by Quarter" sheet also changes to displaying the data by month instead of by Quarter. If I change the grouping on the Cases opened by quarter pivot table sheet and group by Quarter, then the pivot table on the "Cases Opened by Month" also changes to being grouped by quarter.

Shouldn't each pivot table on each sheet be treated as an individual and separate Pivot table? even though they are pulling the data from the same table on the first sheet?

Thanks for any help you can give me on this.

You can use the PivotTable and PivotChart Wizard that shipped with older versions of Excel to create an unshared pivot table based on the same data source.  Simply press keys ALT, D, P in sequence to start the wizard.  When prompted to base the new report on an existing pivot table, click "No".
