I am using office 2013, since last 2 day I am facing some problem while refreshing the pivot data. The pivot is not getting refreshed with updated values. Some time it works when data source is changed manually (if source is in same file), if the data source is in other workbook it don't work even I am unable to change/update the data source. Can some body help me to get out of this problem...

When you wrote "pivot is not getting refreshed" did you mean that the refresh doesn't work after you click Refresh from the Analysis contextual ribbon?

PivotTables that are connected to worksheet data and not via external connections should be explicitly refreshed.

Could you please elaborate how the pivottables were created?

  I have the issue "Initialization of the data source failed. Check the database server or contact your database administrator. Make sure the external database is available, and then try the operation again. If you see this message again, create a new data source to connect to the database". 

  I have over 100 excel sheet, and then, I have to manually go to powerpivot menu option, initialize the queries manually; otherwise, I can set up a system schedule task, run it automatically. Came cross all kinds of error message, sometimes, SQL analysis engine error, could not load the engine etc; try to learn how to troubleshoot. 

  So, another question, how do I can trace more about the error message from Excel powerpivot table? Thought about using Microsoft SSIS, SSRS to generate report instead.
