Personal Address Book has been opened for use by another computer
A single user in our environmanet has been receiving the following error:"Your personal address book could not be opened. Your personal address book has been opened for use by another computer. You will not be able to use your personal address book with this application until the other user closes the application currently using the personal address book. Choose Retry to use your personal address book, or choose Cancel to not use your personal address book with this application"The usage scenario is this: the user in question has an office at two different sites. The main office is a regular Windows XP workstation joined to a domain. The secondary office is a Windows XP workgroup PC, where the user uses Citrix to access applications via Citrix web interface. The above error occurs when the user is in his remote location using Outlook 2003 to access his Exchange 2003 mail box and resources, then he has his secretary in the main office log into his PC using his credentials, then opening Outlook 2003 to access the same Exchange 2003 server. Clicking retry many time eventually makes the error go away and Outlook in the main office location will open normally. There are no event log messages on either the client or the Exchange server providing any further detailsThis is,I suppose, more of an annoyance than an actual problem. But I'm curious as to why this would be happening. I thought using Outlook and Exchange would keep this type of error from ever happening in the first place. I have not been able to find much info about this specific error, so I'm hopinghere might have some insight.Thank you in advance to anyone that might be able to help.Best,Chris

Hi Chris, I think the issue occurs because the two users attempt to access the same PAB file when opening Outlook. I suggest you consider following workaround: 1. Copy the PAB file to another computer: How to copy the personal address book (PAB) to another computer in Outlook 2002 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291618/en-us 2. Convert Personal Address Book to a Contacts folder: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HP052725211033.aspx Mike

Hi Mike, Sorry for not replying sooner. I only saw your posting now. I will try your suggestions and let you know how I make out. Thanks in advance for your time. Best, Chris UPDATE: Thanks for the suggestion, Mike. Converting the user's PAB into a contact folder on his local workstation has resolved the problem.
