Performance issue at 13.00 every day

Hi!  I've just migrated (two weeks ago) an EX2010 to EX2013. All seems to work perfectly (after a lot of hard work), but there is something really strange.Every day, at 13.00 something is happening on the server that runs for almost and hour and locks the owa access saying that annoying message with the sad face...

I've checked the maintenance hours on ecp and are configured to run at night.

Also checked the automated tasks on the server and it seems that nothing is running...

Some ideas?  Help please! users are about to hang me!

check for any anti virus scanning happening on that particular time, which is locking any files. If yes, please check the proper exclusions on the AV server.

Thanks for the help John, but there is no AV soft in that server (I know... I have to...)...

Maybe more info can help us!

Just at 13.00 there is a message un app events that says something like: ""

There is the capture:

And after that, there are a lot (a lot) of messages (one for mailbox) with information on that specific mailbox movements.

There is the capture:

So, it seems that some background task is running there... Maybe we can move it to night hours?

i suspect managed folder assistant process is running on that time. can you check the schedule using the below cmd ?

Get-MailboxServer | Format-Table Name,ManagedFolderWorkCycle* -Auto

Name     ManagedFolderWorkCycle ManagedFolderWorkCycleCheckpoint
----     ---------------------- --------------------------------
EXCH2013 1.00:00:00             1.00:00:00

In my mind, 1.00 means 1.00 AM but I suspect that something is wrong there with 12h and 24 hour format...

Is there some way to move it to, for example, 5?

Apologies for the delay.

Exchange uses a work cycle model to define how its assistants perform work while remaining active in the background to accomplish goals over a set period. For example, you might define that the Managed Folder Assistant must process every mailbox on a server at least once in 24 hours. Given the constraints determined in a work cycle, the assistant will work out how much work it has to do over the period and create an internal schedule to do the work on a phased basis so that a smooth and predictable demand is generated on the server rather than the peaks created by the older model. The assistant monitors system conditions on an ongoing basis to make any required adjustments to perform well. If the server is under high demand for a period due to user activity, the assistant can back off its work and then speed up when server load drops.

In your case work cycle is set to 1 day which means that the Managed Folder Assistant will process all mailboxes within one day.

So I suspect server don't have enough resource to process all mailboxes in 1 day. Can you try to change that value to 2 or 3. So that server will have enough time to process all mailboxes.

John
