I recently upgraded to MS Office 2010 and Excel 2010. I started utilizing the newer 2007 version of the Excel workbook that integrates with PeopleSoft for uploading/updating data. I am attempting to utilize a custom CI and selecting the fields for the 'data input tab works fine, but then when I click 'stage data for submission' Excel freezes and I have to force close.

Based on your description, my understanding is that you tried to use PeopleSoft for uploading/updating excel data. When you clicked "stage data for submission", excel crashed.

I have less knowledge about PeopleSoft, but I can suggest you try to collect the event log messages when Excel crashes. You will get more information about crashing of Excel.
