Paste not working in Office 2010/Win 7 32 bit after June 2015 windows updates

Hoping someone can help or at least this is a report for a bug that could be issued for a fix.

All our machines that are Win7/32 bit with Office 2010 are having problems with pasting after the June 2015 updates are applied.

I have noticed that paste works as expected in Excel and notepad, but while they can copy in Outlook, Word and PowerPoint, both CTRL+V and right-click paste (grayed out) do not work.

Tried a reboot and this does not help.

Thanks for any assistance.

Hi,

Based on your description, after June 2015 windows updates the paste option didnt work in Office. And you also said it works fine in Excel and Notepad, it seemed that this issue not appeared in whole Office. This issue is strange, we couldnt determine if this issue is caused by these updates.

First please try to repair Office and check if it works fine now.

  1. Click Start > Control Panel.
  2. Click Programs > Programs and Features.
  3. Click the Office application you want to repair, and then click Change.
  4. Click Repair > Continue.

Then if this issue still exists, please check the June 2015 updates in your computer.

The June 2015 updates contain these KB: KB 3062157, KB 3063858, KB 3062577, KB 3057839, KB 3059317, KB 3064949, KB 3033890 and KB 3058515.

Please refer to this link:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/bulletin/dn602597.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

Please remove these KB one by one, if the issue is solved after removing one of these KB please let me know and provide which KB occur this issue. For fixing this issue is caused by Windows updates, you need to wait for MS to fix it.

Im glad to help and follow up your reply.

Hope its helpful.

Just a follow-up. Have not tried a repair yet. But I just noticed that I also cannot paste from window to window in Windows Explorer now either. I have to drag and drop items from folder to folder.

So this does not look to be isolated with just Microsoft Office 2010, I do not think a repair would probably correct this problem then correct?

I also notice that I cannot paste content copied from Internet Explorer to Word, Outlook, Notepad, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

I can open the Clipboard and then copy items in Word, Outlook and PowerPoint, those items will then appear in the clipboard list and then I click each that I want to paste to insert them into a document or e-mail. This of course doesn't help in Internet Explorer since there is no clipboard pane to open.

I'm right there with you desktopTech. We first noticed it yesterday morning, but on Windows 7/x64 and Office 2013. There are at least 5 users affected here.

In my troubleshooting, I've run the Windows XP clipboard viewer, and when it's broken it won't paste anywhere. It says that there is binary information that it can't display.

I'm currently uninstalling all of the updates from 6/11 and 6/12. Hopefully, I'll have a culprit soon.

I'm also in the same boat ... starting to see reports of this issue from my users (so far nearly a dozen). They're using Windows 7 x86 and Office 2010. Haven't checked the clipboard using the viewer yet, but will shortly. We're also going through the updates 1 at a time and will post the findings as soon as possible.

It seems that if you uninstall KB3057839 it will fix the issue. LMK if that works for you!

We discovered that by removing only KB3057839 that the problem no longer exist and we were able to use the menu to cut/copy/paste.

There is a reddit article suggesting that it might be related to Spector360. http://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/39g3nj/psa_kb3057839_breaks_copypaste/

We're running Spector here. I'm going to continue chasing this rabbit... Let you know if I find more.

Let me know, we used to run it, so even though we don't would be good to know what we need to remove off our systems to avoid issues.

This related to KB3057839 and spectorsoft. Apparently they are working on a fix to be release by June 22nd.

I found this post this morning: http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/1002361-copy-paste-no-longer-working

On page 2 a SpectorSoft rep said they have identified the issue and are working to release a patch asap. No promises of timeline... just said it probably wouldn't be released over this (past) weekend.

They = Spectorsoft. Yes, I was worried about that earlier reading your post. I imagine there are some SpectorSoft remnants that are causing your trouble.

I have heard some people have success running SFC /SCANNOW... you might try that if you haven't already.

Given that this is a special circumstance, they may be willing to help you. It's a long shot. (1-888-589-2788)

******************

THIS JUST IN: They (SpectorSoft) have released the update to the recorder that fixes this issue. Update to Recorder version 8.3.31652 in the Control Center.

June 17th, 2015 4:39pm

By they, do you mean Spectorsoft or Microsoft? I am hoping Microsoft since we no longer run Spectorsoft, so I am sure we would not be able to receive any support from them.

hi,

What happens if Spector maintenance is expired.

On Spector control center it shows the PC's are in recording state but on the Dashboard the users last activity is the time when this KB has been deployed. It happened for all the users !

I'm still using version 8.1.1119.

I tried to remove the KB from users side and server side - didn;t work

I tried to deploy the SP client on the new machine - didn;t work.

Any ideas? How can I skip this error ?

Thanks in advance,
