PST problem after company merge
Hi NG! We're preparing a company merge where we're not able to migrate Exchange what means that the content of mailboxes will be transferred by ex and importing pst files. Now we've the following problem: We export the content of user Ben from companyA.com into his new created mailbox at companyB.com. When Ben now tries to reply to a mail (which was imported with the pst) from companyA.com it's not possible. When clicking on the sender we just see the original DN under Display. Any ideas how to avoid this problem?! THX & RG

If you simply created new mailboxes for these users in the new organization then the issue you are seeing is because when a user attempts to reply to a past email messge that was routed in the old organization, Exchange does not use the SMTP address but instead uses legacyExchangeDN attribute between intra-org mailboxes. In this scenario that attribute differs between the new and old mailboxes. You'll need to add an X.500 email address to each mailbox that matches the old mailbox's legacyExchangeDN attribute. Depending on the size of you environment you can either do this manually or script it using LDIFDE, ADModifyNET, etc. Take a look at this MS KB article for more info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;555197 And this blog entry from the MS Exchange Team with info about scripting the process: http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2004/07/21/189966.aspx
